Olga Sophie Kauppinen

Olga Sophie Kauppinen (b.1988), is a painter from Helsinki, Finland. Her work aims to explore the subconscious mind and its link to intuitive creation through painting. She is interested in the idea of exploring dimensions and her practice is strongly linked to her nightly remembrance of dreams, weather if be through relief-like sculptural paintings or in a more conceptual manner in her two dimensional works. She is a process based artist interested in working with old masters materials in a self innovated contemporary format.

After graduating from The New York Studio School in 2011, Kauppinen spent most of her adult life working in New York City, mastering the craft of painting under such artists as Ron Gorchov, Chris Martin, Bill Jensen and Dorothea Rockburne. She returned to Finland in 2020 and currently works from her studio space in Helsinki’s Eira.
