THE EMERGENCE OF ANTHROPOCORALLIUS is a series of sculptures and photographs that explore the impact of human consumption on marine ecosystems. The work envisions a scenario where sugar replaces the salty minerals in oceans and seas, leading to drastic consequences for aquatic life.
At the center of this series is Anthropocorallius, a fictional coral-like structure formed from human-made debris. Its skeletal framework symbolizes the growing entanglement between industrial waste and the natural world. Dependent on a glucose-based environment to survive, Anthropocorallius reflects the consequences of excessive consumption and environmental degradation.
ANTHROPOCORALLIUS Rex, a key piece in this series, is composed of discarded materials encased in a sugar-based medium. Through its materiality and form, the work invites reflection on the delicate balance between human industry and fragile ecosystems.
